Adult and Adolescent Dog Training Classes For Real-Life Situations
Short Courses are 4-week courses focusing intensively on building reliable behaviours in one specific area:
Stop Jumping Course - the focus is on teaching you the management techniques needed to nip unwanted jumping up in the bud. Over 4 weeks you will create and implement a management plan, teach your dog Place and begin proofing the behaviour so it is reliable around distractions, teach Auto-sit so that your dog knows how to ask for attention in an enjoyable way, and you will practise greetings in a controlled way. We use reward-based training methods proven to strengthen the bond between you and your dog while building up confidence and providing real progress.
Life Skills Course - the focus is on teaching you how to build up your dog's skills and confidence for life. Over 4 weeks you will learn how to: motivate your dog, train walking nicely on a lead, build a reliable recall, reduce barking at other dogs, building up your dog's confidence, settle calmly at home and in a cafe and increase your dog's confidence with handling, grooming and going to the vets.
Nice Lead Walking Course - this focus is on teaching your dog how to motivate your dog, how to create engagement outside, how to walk nicely on a lead, practise walk nicely around distractions and how to recognise, and what to do, when your dog is not able to cope with a situation.
Short courses are suitable for bouncy adolescents, long time family members who needs more support and new rescue dogs who is still settling in. The course layout will be managed so that reactive dogs get enough space to work, build confidence and improve behaviour step by step.
Why Choose Poppy’s Dog School?
Positive Reinforcement
Training should be enjoyable for both dogs and people. Our methods are force-free, reward-based, and tailored to your dog’s personality and learning style.
Building a Relationship
Positive Reinforcement
Using reward-based training teaches your dog that good things happen around you and you are fun to be around. This positive relationship grows stronger the more training you do. This method is much less stressful for dog and people than using tools or harsh handling methods.
Ongoing Support
Once you join one of the group classes, you will receive a training guide for each session - including background information about canine behaviour. Plus, you will have access to free support and guidance in between sessions.
Supportive and Friendly Environment
Training should be enjoyable for both dogs and people. Our methods are force-free, reward-based, and tailored to your dog’s personality and learning style.
Training sessions are relaxed and supportive so that people and dogs can learn without stress or fear. If you have any health conditions which require adaptations to your training we can tailor sessions to your needs.
Practical Everyday Training
Training sessions focus on real-world behaviours so you can enjoy calmer walks, better recall, and improved confidence in everyday situations.
